The Plowden family reunion that we have bi-annually in the Manning area,
the printing of periodic newsletters and the monthly maintenance required
to keep this website up are all dependent on contributions from our
members.
We primarily set up our website to keep our members abreast of Plowden related information. Each year the details of our next reunion can be found here as well as "map directional information". The Executive committee of our family organization also felt as the Plowdens "grow and shrink" over time with the addition of new members and the "passing" of older ones, the website might become a "depository" for Plowden related historical documents and photographs. Until the website was launched, most of our "treasures" had been stored in "boxes" at several different family members' houses. Often photographs or Plowden related articles were seen only by their owner. So it was felt that if those items could be "scanned" at some point and submitted to our webmaster for display on our website, other Plowden kin could enjoy more of the RICH Plowden heritage that has been alive in South Carolina since the early 1700's.
So we need TWO things from you!
First, we need you to search your closets, attics and old shoeboxes for items that you believe might be "newsworthy" to post here on our site. Generally that would include historical Plowden photographs from days gone by as well as articles by or articles about Plowden family members.
Second, in addition to your donations of Plowden historical materials, we ALSO need your financial assistance in maintaining and "expanding" this website. Computer and website technologies are constantly changing and we want to keep ours updated and able to handle many of the new additions we hope to integrate into our site that will make it an even greater resource than it currently is.
A few of the capabilities we hope to eventually add include: 1) An "online" database on which members can "create" and "edit" their own individual profiles whenever they desire or new "news". 2) The ability to archive and run video/audio "clips" from reunions or other family related events. 3) A greatly expanded collection of Plowden photographs and documents.
So while you might not be involved in the month-to-month maintenance of the website, you CAN play an important role by helping to underwrite our efforts. Your generous contributions will be greatly appreciated by all and will be used "prudently" to keep our Plowden website one of the Internet's more progressive "family endeavors".
